Abstract
Join us for a fun afternoon of creativity and community on behalf of the world鈥檚 children. At this workshop you鈥檒l get inspiration from best-selling children鈥檚 book creators Paul & Peter H. Reynolds (Judy Moody,听The Dot,听Ish,听Going Places), learn about the global literacy efforts of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and begin work on your very own children鈥檚 book, which will ultimately be uploaded to a digital library and made available in dozens of languages for early language learners around the world.

Peter H. Reynolds听is a听New York Times听best-selling children's book author illustrator (Judy Moody,听The Dot,听Ish,听Sky Color,听Someday), selling over 20 million books in over 25 languages around the globe. In 1996, he founded FableVision as a social change agency to help move the world to a better place by creating "stories that matter,听stories that move." FableVision's signature blend of positive media, storytelling听and interactive technologies is sought after by a host of best-in-class organizations,听such as PBS KIDS, Reading Is Fundamental, the Jim Henson Company, and National Wildlife Federation. Peter also founded听, a K-12 educational听publishing company, as well as the nonprofit听, and independent book and creativity shop called听听in historic Dedham Square, Massachusetts. Paul Reynolds听is CEO of FableVision, which is co-located at the Boston Children's Museum in the city's Innovation District. Paul has helped build the multimillion-dollar firm into an internationally recognized multimedia developer and publisher, with partnerships, strategic alliances and clients across many industries - broadcast, museum, institutional, K12, educational publishing, technology and research. When he's not entrenched in all things FableVision, Paul teaches digital media production at Boston College, where he has served as adjunct faculty for over two decades. Paul is co-author of听Going Places, a picture book with Simon & Schuster, and a STEM-meets-Arts (STEAM) early chapter book series with Charlesbridge Publishing. Follow Paul on听.听.听

Vilsack and Harris introduced USAID's Bloom software to over 70 students, faculty, and staff in attendance. The Boisi Center and USAID, along with the Lynch School of Education, the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Social Work, and the Connell School of Nursing co-sponsored the 鈥淪tories that Move: a USAID Book-a-thon.鈥� The event provided an opportunity for the 精东影业 community to write children鈥檚 books and upload them to USAID鈥檚 digital library, made available in multiple languages for young learners around the world. Harris and USAID senior advisor Christie Vilsack began by highlighting USAID鈥檚 work in education, and discussed BLOOM,听 translation software developed by its faith-based partners. This new technology allows anyone to design, create, and publish his or her own book in multiple languages for readers around the globe.听
The keynote speakers, Peter H. Reynolds and Paul Reynolds (MCAS 鈥�82) of FableVision Studios have years of experience writing and creating children鈥檚 books. Peter is a New York Times best-selling author who has sold over 20 million books, and Paul is CEO of FableVision, a social change agency that combines narrative and media to produce compelling, positive, and relatable stories. The Reynolds brothers encouraged participants to 鈥渃reate bravely鈥� and discussed the creative aspects of the writing process: inspiration, imagination, design, and production.
