Human rights should protect the dignity and well-being of all people. But in today鈥檚 deeply divided world, some argue that cultural differences and economic inequality undermine their universality. In聽Human Rights in a Divided World聽(2024), Rev. David Hollenbach, S.J., offers a comprehensive and cohesive analysis of the challenges to human rights, suggesting that today鈥檚 global realities call for important developments rooted in Catholic ethics.聽Human Rights in a Divided World聽offers a clear path forward for the church in its engagement with politics and guidance for students of human rights as well as those working to advance them.This book launch event will feature the book's author, Berkley Center Senior Fellow Rev. David Hollenbach, S.J. He will be joined by Cathleen Kaveny, Darald and Juliet Libby Professor at Boston College; A. E. Orobator, dean of the Jesuit School of Theology at Santa Clara University; and Michael Perry, Robert W. Woodruff Professor of Law Emeritus at Emory University. Copies of聽Human Rights in a Divided World聽(2024) will be for sale at the event, and a聽reception will follow.聽
