CFLC Peer Tutoring for the 2024 fall semester will begin on Monday, September 9th.

Access to making a tutoring appoinment will be available starting Monday, September 9th through the Navigate portal.

Subjects being offered for fall tutoring will be available by September 9th.

Academic Coaching:

Provides students with a 50-minute one-on-one academic coaching meeting, which entails working with a mentor to self-assess, reflect, and set goals to achieve academic success.听Focus areas which the student can choose are: Goal Setting, Time Management and Organization Strategies, Self-Advocacy and Conflict Management, Reading/Writing/Notetaking Strategies, Study Skills, Meditation and Relaxation, Future Planning.

Tutoring Session Information For Tutees:

Each appointment is 50 minutes long.听听Appointments听 can only be booked up to a maximum of 6 days out in advance.听No more than 3 appointments per subject within 7 days.听 If you book 2 appointments for the same subject on the same day, one of them will be deleted.听Tutors cannot help with exams or homework to be submitted for a grade.听听Please respect tutors鈥 privacy and time.听 Do not contact them outside of their work hours.听 This is against Center policy.

Scheduling a Tutoring Appointment:

  1. Log into your Agora Portal and click the 鈥淣avigate Academic Support鈥 link found under the 鈥淎cademics and Courses鈥 section.
  2. Once you are at the Navigate homepage, click the link titled 鈥淪chedule an Appointment with an Academic Support Office.鈥 It's the blue box in the upper right corner.
  3. This will take you to a page with a drop-down menu.听
  4. In this menu select 鈥淐onnors Family Learning Center.鈥
  5. This opens up another drop-down menu, where you will need to select 鈥渃ourse-based tutoring.鈥滳lick 鈥渘ext鈥 to advance to a page with two more drop-down menus.听
  6. In the top one select 鈥淐onnors Family Learning Center鈥 and in the bottom one, select the course in which you want to receive tutoring.
  7. After clicking 鈥渘ext鈥 you will arrive on a page that allows you to choose a time and confirm the appointment.

Saturday, Oct. 12th, to Tuesday, Oct. 15th听- Closed for Fall Break.

Wednesday, Nov. 27th, to Sunday, Dec. 1st- Closed for Thanksgiving Holidays.

Monday, December 9th- Last day of peer tutoring for the fall semester.听

Note: CFLC Peer Tutoring is not offered on Saturdays.

Attend Class

Tutoring is not a substitute for class attendance. Going to class regularly and consistently will help you get the most out of your session.

Make Appointments Early

Appointments can be made up to six days in advance of the tutoring session. Appointments fill up quickly, especially before exams. Planning ahead and making your appointments early will give you a good chance of getting the appointment you want.

Plan Ahead

Come to the CFLC with specific questions and attempt problems on your own before coming to your appointment.

Be Prepared

Come to your appointment with your assignment, book, and other necessary materials. Papers for writing appointments must be printed out ahead of time (Please bring in one copy of your paper for yourself and one copy for your tutor to look over).

Arrive on Time

If you arrive more than ten minutes late to your tutoring appointment, your appointment may be given away to another student. Appointments are 50 minutes long and will not go over the time limit. It鈥檚 best to arrive on time so you can take advantage of the entire session.

Budget Your Time

Tutoring appointments are 50 minutes long. Only bring in material that you can realistically cover in that amount of time.

Ask Questions

Tutoring should be an active dialog. The tutor is not meant to do all the talking. Don鈥檛 be afraid to ask questions or ask for clarification if something does not make sense. It is also a good idea to review what you have learned at the end of the session.

Be Patient

Our tutors are students just like you. They are not meant to know everything. Please be patient as they are trying to help you.
