Fifth Third Bank celebrated by providing 1 million meals to the hungry. The company has celebrated Fifth Third Day since 1991, and since 2012 the Bank and its employees have worked toward a common goal to fight hunger. The meals will be provided through monthlong events, including volunteering, group employee efforts, and individual employee efforts. 鈥淢ay third is a day to celebrate the positive difference we make in the lives of our customers, our co-workers and our communities as we continue to address hunger across our footprint,鈥 said , Fifth Third鈥檚 chairman and CEO.
PSEG celebrated the company鈥檚 with a spotlight on the blue spotted salamander for Earth month. The endangered salamanders live underground for 11 months out of the year, but come to the surface to breed. PSEG's crews laid down heavy timber 鈥渕ats鈥 to allow the construction vehicles to work without harming the salamanders crossing the roads while going between their normal habitat and their breeding habitat. While removing the mats, if teams spotted any blue spotted salamanders work was paused until the team scooped them up and safely relocated them.
