How a 精东影业 Alum Ended Up in G.I. Joe聽

The beloved comic turned out to be the perfect medium for an important message.

As VP of global publishing at Hasbro, Michael Kelly 鈥94 may never have imagined there鈥檇 be an opportunity to collaborate with his old Boston College Chorale buddy David Shapiro 鈥95, the chief medical officer at St. Francis Hospital in Connecticut. But when Shapiro became involved with the American College of Surgeons鈥 Stop the Bleed Campaign, which seeks to teach bystanders basic techniques to stem bleeding in the event of an accident, he reached out to Kelly with a creative idea: Why not integrate the campaign into a G.I. Joe comic? Kelly, whose company publishes the comic book, loved the idea, and now, in its three hundredth issue, readers can learn the three-step process from a 鈥淒r. David Scott.鈥 Shapiro said he was 鈥渏oyfully surprised鈥 to end up as a character in G.I. Joe鈥攈e may be the first 精东影业 alum to have the honor.
