Katherine Lemon and Miao Liu win top awards for research in their disciplines聽

Katherine Lemon (Marketing) and Miao Liu (Accounting) have both recently won prestigious awards for research contributions in their respective fields.

Katherine Lemon, Accenture Professor of Marketing

Lemon, Accenture Professor of Marketing, was awarded the prestigious , given to papers that have made a significant, long-term impact on the field of marketing since publication. In the winning paper, a 2016 Journal of Marketing article titled 鈥,鈥 Lemon and a colleague propose a unified framework for conceptualizing the customer journey and introduce a new typology of customer touchpoints.

Meanwhile, Assistant Professor of Accounting Miao Liu walked off with the 2021 Best Dissertation Award from the American Accounting Association鈥檚 Financial Accounting and Reporting Section. His dissertation, 鈥,鈥 explored how Artificial Intelligence can be used to assess human information processing behavior in banking. While loan officers tend to overreact to information such as negative jumps in borrowers鈥 cash flows, they also derive useful "soft information." They do so by interacting with borrowers, an ability unmatched by AI, according to Liu鈥檚 finding.

These add to a raft of other awards and distinctions earned by Carroll School faculty during the last academic year and rounded up in the spring 2021 edition of聽Carroll Capital.
