As Dean of Boston College鈥檚 Carroll School of Management, Andy Boynton聽collaborates with a talented group of colleagues to create a management school that聽excels in teaching and research. The faculty is comprised of scholarly leaders across all disciplines whose work is published in leading academic and practitioner publications. Both faculty and staff are committed to transforming students to become聽thoughtful, effective, and ethical leaders.

Under his leadership, the Carroll School has consistently ranked among the top schools of management in the United States鈥攊n the overall rankings as well as for both teaching quality and research productivity.

In addition to leading the Carroll School, Dean Boynton lends his expertise to a number of University projects聽that cross boundaries at聽Boston College. Among other initiatives, he co-chaired a committee of deans, faculty, and University administrators who spearheaded a renewal and revitalization of the University鈥檚 undergraduate core curriculum.聽

Beyond Boston College, Dean Boynton has also provided thought leadership on questions related to innovation. His writing on a range of topics has appeared in the Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, California Management Review, Forbes, and many other leading journals and outlets. His acclaimed book,聽The Idea Hunter: How to Find the Best Ideas and Make Them Happen聽(Wiley), focuses on making innovation a key leadership skill and providing motivation and guidelines to unleash everyone鈥檚 creative capabilities.

Prior to joining Boston College, Dean Boynton was a professor of strategy聽at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland, for over 10 years. At the IMD, he led a faculty team and was program director of one of the world鈥檚 top ten Executive Global聽MBA programs, as recognized by聽Businessweek. He has also served on the faculty of the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, as well as at the University of Virginia鈥檚 Darden School of Business.

Dean Boynton鈥檚 research agenda today includes projects related to innovation, leadership, and strategy, targeting firms and industries where expertise is a source of competitive advantage.
