Performance Spaces

Robsham Theatre

Mainstage

The Robsham Theater Main Stage is the largest theatrical space at Boston College. Throughout the year, Robsham鈥檚 Main-Stage facility is used to host meetings, special guests, dance shows, and three out of the six departmental productions. It is the first permanent home designed for theater production at Boston College. Built in 1981, the facility houses a 591 seat main theater, a large lobby and exhibit space, a black box studio theater, a green room, dressing rooms, a design classroom, box office, and faculty and staff offices. The RTAC also houses the Costume Shop in which all costumes are designed and built and the Scene Shop in which all sets and props are designed and built.

The main theater is a traditional proscenium house with limited thrust capabilities. It is fully handicapped accessible and designed specifically for educational theater. It includes a completely equipped stage house with fly gallery, an orchestra pit for some twenty musicians, adequate wing and backstage space, and state of the art lighting and sound systems.

Bonn Theater

Bonn Studio Theater

The Bonn Studio is a small black-box theater located within the Robsham Theater Arts Center. Seating is flexible and can be arranged to accommodate roughly 150 people in a variety of audience-stage configurations. At present, one faculty-directed production and two student-directed 'workshop' productions are performed each academic year in The Bonn, as are most Dramatics Society and Contemporary Theater productions. The room is also used for classes, rehearsals, meetings, and even set construction.

Brighton Dance Studio

Brighton Dance Studios

Opened in 2007, the Brighton Dance Studios (BDS) are a dance facility dedicated serving student dance troupes, performance clubs and other dance-related organizations overseen by Student Affairs. Located at 2115 Commonwealth Avenue on Boston College鈥檚 Brighton Campus, the Brighton Dance Studios are less than a ten-minute walk from the Robsham Theater Arts Center.

Dedicated to providing a safe, suitable space for students to train in the art of dance and movement, the Brighton Dance Studios are composed of three rooms; the largest of which is a basketball court-sized dance space equipped with mirrors, a sound system, ballet barres and a coat room.

The Brighton Dance Studios also supports Boston College鈥檚 Theatre department, hosting academic dance classes, dance rehearsals and movement-related programs.听If you have any questions about the Brighton Dance Studios, including how to reserve the space, where it is on campus/how to get there, please email听rtac.operations@bc.edu.
